Physical disabilities refer to hearing, sight and mobility impairments. I am a powered wheelchair user and live independently, but I am in the minority - your needs may be simple or more complex, but inclusion should be possible even if there has to be a reasonable adjustment. The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and Equality Act 2010 should help.

On-street parking is free but blue badge spaces display a time limit - please check. Park & Ride is located at Bishopton and drop off in Wood Street by the American Fountain. Other car parks will charge!

There are many town events throughout the year which often affect blue badge parking- sometimes there will be alternatives but not always but hopefully they will provide an Accessibility Statements. CHECK!!!

PURPLE TUESDAY 13 November 2018 218-323-9472 Nearly one in every five people in the UK has a disability or impairment, and over half of households have a connection to someone with a disability. Their collective spending power â the Purple Pound â is worth Â£249 billion to the UK economy. However, this potential is not being fully realised. There are still real (and perceived) barriers that make it harder for disabled people to find work, spend money online and in store, and enjoy a drink or meal out. The aim of Purple Tuesday is to make customer-facing businesses more aware of these opportunities and challenges and inspire them to make changes to improve the disabled customer experience over the long term. As well as endorsing and promoting Purple Tuesday, every participant must make at least one long-term commitment aimed at improving the experience for their disabled customers going forward. The exact nature of the commitment is up to each individual business, depending on their specific resources and needs. However, examples include introducing regular âquiet hoursâ for those with sensory issues, improving store wayfinding, or introducing more inclusive marketing and product photography.
PURPLE TUESDAY is for business or organisation that interacts with disabled customers â either at a physical location or online â the more the merrier! Let me know what you're doing to support PURPLE TUESDAY.
